Would you pay to find computer geeks to date?
Okay, this site is obviously directed at professional computer geeks and, lately, I’ve been thinking about dating. Well, I came across a link to a place called aeWebworks that was selling a web suite called aeDating. And, well, that got me thinking… I’ve seen dating sites targeted at every group from Christians to nudists to science geeks to cowboy freaks and I thought, well, why not computer geeks? Okay, sure, it might be lopsided toward the male end of things, but I think I can use that as a selling point. I mean, think about all the “nice” girls who would like to find a guy with a good job. Hey, that’s us! What about all the “ladies” that might get deported if they don’t get married? I’ve known web designers that would do anything to get a date!
Okay, maybe it’s a little out there, but I already have a lot of traffic. It wouldn’t take much to juice that up a little. In fact, just having the dating site, or subsite, would probably drive some traffic. Keywords would be the thing. Yeah, keywords…. Well, before I get too far ahead of myself, I suppose I should see if there’s any interest. So, is there? Leave a comment!

  2. Well, it is something like $650, so I’d really have to follow through on the marketing end of things, but, still, it’s an idea, eh? And, of course, right now I can’t spend money on anything that isn’t “required living expenses”, so that would be out. Maybe in the Fall, though… Stay tuned!

  3. Hey!
Try speed dating. They must have places in the Houston area. Have you heard of this? It’s at some venue, they set up several tables and a woman sits at each of the tables, the men rotate from table to table within an alotted timeframe and at the end of the evening you write down on paper the names of 3 women you were interested in. If any of them were interested in you, then they give you contact info and you guys can hook up.

I mention it ‘cuz you seem to be in the mood for an adventure.

  4. One of the churches in my area is sponsoring a speed dating evening once a month. The evening is open to anyone at all regardless of religious affiliation or lack thereof, and I’ve heard from one friend’s daughter that is was great fun, and quite successful. she found that all three guys she was interested in were equally interested in her, and she’s dated at least one, possibly more by now.

There is another group sponsoring their own version of speed dating, but they are not ‘church-oriented’. Nonetheless, their members have also reported good results from the process.

And life goes on, so go with it.

  5. If you’re still contemplating this idea let me know. I’d be willing to help set-up a site such as this and I reckon it would do us geeks some good to finally have a place for geek loving women and geekettes to find us 🙂

  6. Hey, you know, there are chicks that are geeks, too! At least, there used to be… Where have they all gone? Well, if I were to do it, and I was really just kidding, it’ll have to wait a good long time. Though, I have to admit, with the responses I’ve gotten, I’m starting to think that it might just be worth it! Now, all I have to do is figure out how to get the women interested….

  7. I’d throw down a couple of dollars to meet techy girls. At least I could relate to them better than most of the people I meet. I’m not down for the $/month, deal, but I’d go for it if payment were transaction based.

  8. Hmm, now all we need is a good supply of techie girls who are interested! Heck, I’d even let them sign up for free! (The guys have to pay, though. Maybe an annual membership.)
