The Punchline?

Filed under: Criticism, Marginalia, and Notes,Fun,Personal,Red Herrings — Posted by the Network Geek during the Hour of the Rooster which is in the early evening or 6:05 pm for you boring, normal people.
The moon is a Third Quarter Moon

So, a married couple, a recent widow and a divorced man go out for dinner…

No, that’s not the start of a joke. Those are my plans for the evening.
It’s a sad, little personal life, but it’s mine, all mine.

(An interesting side note, though there is a word for a divorced woman, namely divorcee, there is not, apparently, an equivalent term for a man. How odd.)

  1. Have fun! If you have too much fun, you’ll have a punch line to give us all tomorrow!

  2. Oh, no, no punch lines with this group.

And, all kidding aside, Cheri, I really do love all three of these people. Hanging out with them doesn’t introduce me to new, single, people who I might date, but I do enjoy them.

  3. Oh, that last comment cleared it up… I thought it sounded suspiciously like a blind date. 🙂

  4. Yeah, I could see how someone would get that idea. No, the widow in question happens to be the RN who took me to my needle biopsy last year, about this time, actually. We all know each other via church. In fact, it surprised me a little when I found out that my best friend, J’s bride, L, is her best friend. It’s a small, small world.

Though, I have to admit, I’m starting to wonder why my friends haven’t tried to do that. I guess I’m just the last single person they know! (At least, that’s what I tell myself!!)
