Buy Stock Instead of Gear for Real Wealth

How much money have you spent on gadgets?

No, seriously, have you ever totaled it up?  If you’re like me, you’ve spent a bundle.  And, I’m not even an “early adopter” or an Apple fanboy who has to replace his iPhone with the latest version every time a new feature is added, either.  Does all that feel like a waste of money to you sometimes?  Well, what if you’d invested it, instead?
What if, instead of buying the latest Apple, or whatever brand, gear, you had invested in stock in the company?  Imagine, if you’d taken the price of a first generation iPod and bought Apple stock, instead.  Or a G4 or a MacBook or whatever.  How much money would that be now?

Well, wonder no more, because Kyle Conroy has done the work for  you.
He asks the question; What if I had bought Apple Stock instead?  He charts how much money he’d have now if he’d invested the purchase price of the latest Apple gear in Apple stock instead, from the release date until now.
The results may make your buyer’s remorse just a little worse.

Ever want to be a DJ?

Back in the day, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth and I was of an age to attend house parties, DJs spun records.  But, those days are long, long gone and everyone uses MP3 players now.  So, what’s an aspiring DJ to do?  Hit UrbanOutfitters and grab a $120 iPod DJ Mixer.  I recommend getting a book to go with that called The Pocket DJ.  It’s a little dated, but a good place for newbies like me to start.  The two are the key to your digital DJ success!

Looking for New Music

Okay, so I’m tragically unhip and I know it.

But, that’s no reason for my music to be sad, old, and uncool. So, I know many of my readers are far more with it than I am and I’m looking to you all for suggestions to give my iPod an injection of cool music mojo. And, ladies, I’m especially counting on you all to help this poor white boy find something to shake it to that will at least impress your kind with my brilliant musical taste. Also, I’ve just gotten bored with the CDs I’ve got in my car and on my shelf and I’ve got a huge cart at Amazon.com that I want to throw some music into before I checkout.  So, something new and hip and, preferably, indie, okay?

Just in case you’re not clear, the Rolling Stones are not what I had in mind.
